This experience led to the development of its initial version of the platform in 2016.

Below is an interview with Logan Samual, the founder and CEO of Evidencity.
Q: What was the lightbulb moment / origin story of Evidencity?
While living in Brazil, I was standing in line for several hours waiting to retrieve documents I needed to register my daughter as a US citizen born abroad.
While in line, I began to think of all of the times I’ve waited in line for corporate records, litigation and property records and the like.
This moment led to the sketch up for Evidencity’s minimally viable product, our V1.0, which we launched in the Spring of 2016.
What is the mission and vision of Evidencity?
Evidencity is a for purpose, for profit company that combats modern slavery through tech-enabled investigative due diligence, supply chain transparency and financial inclusion.
Our vision is to be grace-fueled for the honest and brave, seeking truth. And to be engaged and compassionate as we help others feel peace and be set free.
How does the impact lives and/or the environment in a positive way?
Evidencity focuses mostly on impacting lives in a positive way by making sure companies conduct business ethically and by exposing companies and individuals who may be exploiting workers.
This works in three different ways:
Investigative due diligence combats modern slavery through discovering information about individuals and companies that may be bad actors, or connected to bad actors, with a view toward protecting or preventing an investment.
Supply chain transparency combats modern slavery through discovering information about companies or individuals in a supply chain that may be engaged in, or exposed to, forced labor.
There is a raft of “transparency” legislation in place, and growing, that is pushing globally exposed companies toward increased transparency in the network of companies and individuals to whom they send money.
Financial inclusion combats modern slavery when they prevent bad actors from using formal value transfer systems.
Prevention includes efforts to “know your customer” (KYC), to combat fraud and money laundering, and through transparent global supply chains.
How have you funded the company thus far?
Evidencity began as a project incubated inside another company I started. It was then spun out with an initial significant contract, and soon thereafter received some seed and then angel funding from accredited investors.
After growing for a few years, the investment climate opened up for the SaaS platform we endeavored to build.
Evidencity closed a series A round in April 2021, and from there has received occasional convertible notes with extended terms.
We are preparing for a Series B round in the Fall of ‘24 or Spring of ‘25.
What tools do you use to run Evidencity?
To effectively manage our company’s operations, we employ a robust set of tools designed to streamline communication, project management, customer engagement, and administrative functions.
The tools we use to run our company are:
Slack, Google Suite products, Zoom, Monday.com, Intercom, Mailchimp, Carta, and Gusto to manage non-tech stack operations.
Together, these tools enable us to maintain agility and responsiveness in our operations, essential qualities for thriving in today’s dynamic business environment.
